The Latest Cialis News

Last year the US FDA gave permission to change the labels on Cialis used for erectile dysfunction to warn consumers more directly of the possibility of hearing problems that could result from taking Cialis. It also informed users on what measures to take if this were to happen to them. The FDA asked manufacturers of these drugs to revise product labeling after a very small number of patients taking the PDE5 inhibitors reported sudden hearing loss, sometimes accompanied by ringing in the ears and dizziness.

The ideal candidate that takes Cialis is generally an aging male that normally already has some medical problems. If this male begins to notice a change in his hearing then it may be overlooked and not attributed to the erectile dysfunction medication but rather as another sign of aging. Patients taking Cialis that notice any hearing problems what so ever should immediately stop taking the drug and get medical help. The link is between hearing loss and PDE5 inhibitors. The FDA found a total of 29 post marketing reports of sudden hearing loss, both with and without accompanying ringing in the ears, vertigo, or dizziness. In most of the cases, the hearing loss involved one ear. The hearing loss was either a partial or complete loss of usual hearing. In approximately one third of cases, the event was temporary. In the remainder, the hearing loss was ongoing at the time of the report or the final outcome was not described.

A small study suggests that men with a history of heart attack and/or high blood pressure are at an increased risk of suffering a vision-threatening condition called NAION upon taking Cialis. Researchers found that patients with a history of these conditions were up to ten times more likely to develop serious eye complications while taking Cialis compared to otherwise healthy men. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, was published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.

The latest news on Cialis indicated that if people take a higher dose of Cialis than that which is recommended then it is possible that they could suffer from a stroke. This was only the case with individuals that exceeded the amount of Cialis that was supposed to be taken in the incidence of stroke. The hearing and vision problems were not related to an elevated dose of Cialis.
